Zahard was born in the Annedhellian village of Kallino of the name Nadhirrah. Often, the village was a pit-stop for nomads like her parents before venturing back out into the trackless desert. She was raised among the extended family of her nomadic tribe, taught to worship the Annedhellian Pantheon (a collection of primordial spirits in service to Ubtao, the deceiver) She was raised in a fairly happy family and though they had very little growing up, that all changed when her father decided to settle down in the glorious metropolis of Annedhel. He became a Tailor, and Nadhirrah was his assistant. They worked together for six years, making a decent living, until the Annedhel-Siranda wars begun. Most of the men of her family all joined the military and shipped off to Taros, the desert nation's base of military operations. Her mother joined as a healer, and brought along her only daughter. There, she learned her mother's craft, and became a Priestess of Tempus, the god of war. Though not violent herself, she see the value in protecting her people.
Nadhirrah changed drastically over the next eight years. She became more violent, more angry, and more desperate as the desert people begun to lose the war against Siranda. Acting as a healer and enchanter for a losing force took its toll on her, and when the Warriors returned with her father's corpse- she deserted the army. Devestated, she abandoned Tempus and packed her things, departing in the middle of a cool desert night in Taros. She walked along the cliff path leading into the village, looking back at the war-torn town for the last time. After that, she ventured to the Sazzan Plains, joining a monastic order in the upper plains far away from all the political affairs of Siranda.
With the wind at her back she would guide the kite through the storm, protect the sanctity of her homeland and endeavour to reclaim the island and open up the road for a newer, greater future for this land.

The monks were not of Shaundakul, but they were not centered around a Deity either- they believed in an idea. These were the Monks of Sazzan, an ancient but peaceful order of monks bent on maintaining the beauty of the natural world. The Sazzan Monks had a temple in the highest reaches of the plains, near the western shores of the island. After staying with the Monks as a cleric with no deity for almost three years, Nadhirrah made the decision that she would use her accumulated knowledge and experience to dedicate herself to the road and the winds that shifted the sands of Annedhel. It was then that she began going by the name 'Zahard', using her beloved father's name as her own in honour of his sacrifices and his care for her during her upbringing. Zahard went forth, serving as a protector of travelers and began her life as a nomad for the first time since she was a child- but this time, she would become a devout of Shaundakul and carry out his will all across the desert and eventually the island of Siranda. During her travels on the island, she began to guide caravans through the desert sands. During one of her routine runs between Kallino and Taros, a member of her caravan fell ill. Though she did everything in her power to help them, it wasn't long until the entire caravan had been overrun with the dead, and Zahard's journey as a lone wanderer began. Fairly versed in self-sufficiency, she overlooked as the Empire that crushed her homeland fell in but a few days to the illness. Her goal in life had become clear with this development, and that was that it was her destiny to guide what few survivors on Siranda remained.
With the wind at her back she would guide the kite through the storm, protect the sanctity of her homeland and endeavour to reclaim the island and open up the road for a newer, greater future for this land.
