As the title suggests, I have a tendency to crash whenever going outside.
This happens without fail at least once each time I leave the Desolation, generally within fifteen to thirty seconds of seeing the first horde. After restarting the game and returning to play/getting a raise, it does not happen again until another transition.
Couple of basics to try... turn off shiny water in graphics settings, as well as set the game affinity to a single core in task manager. If you need a walk through for that I can go into more detail.
Standard framerate is about 200-240 in a peaceful area and 80-120 while being attacked.
That said, the game did freeze while loading the module (note that this is what the bu actually looks like, not a crash to desktop, but a game freeze). This time around I told windows to shut up and wait it out, and after flashing between the loading screen and a black screen, the module loaded after about two or so minutes. A DM watching said I popped in and out of the server a few times during this and finally showed up once stabilized. Memory usage during this buggy load stayed roughly constant between 120-150mb.

I'd advise cleaning out a bunch of those to a backup folder and trying to see if you can reproduce the crash after they're moved out.
You'd probably do better on the EA bioware forums for this sort of issue (as its not server related); big thing to do is make sure your windows is running in compatibility mode; for xp or windows 7 depending on things. NWN is a bit of an old game and the whole crash thing screams more operating system and video card then it does "you must have done something to make your nwn game not work"
