Personality
While generally rather kind and caring towards others, Aedan comes across as very meek and shy. He has trouble with talking to those he doesn't really know, more often than not, leading to him often just remaining quiet due to fear of saying something bad or similar. Additionally, he doesn't appear to be the most courageous person. Often seen very against leaving the safehouse, he carries a great deal of fear whenever he is in the presence of the dead, especially when encountering new undead he's not seen before. Though, despite everything, he still tries his best to help others, often even giving away the last of his food to someone who might seem to need it more than him.
Background
Aedan never was really out of the ordinary, growing up. He lived in Kalaram with his parents and younger sister. His father was a member of the Sirandan Knights while his mother worked with his sister at a bread stand to earn money. They were happy and pretty well off. Aedan was very close to his family, even seeking to follow in his father's footsteps. He sought nothing more than to become a knight in order to help the people of Siranda in the best way he could.
When he was old enough, he began practicing swordsmanship with his father. While a kind man, his father was pretty strict in teaching the way of the sword to his son. But, despite this, Aedan kept at it learning the skills and discipline he would eventually need. He became quite good at it and only got better as his teenage years went on. Perhaps his focus on improving was part of why he never really had any friends and why he isn't so great around other people, even. But he kept with it, none-the-less. Shortly after turning twenty years of age, Aedan decided it was time to sign on with the Sirandan military to become a knight. But no one could've suspected what would happen next.
The dead rose in droves and began devouring the people of Siranda. It was so sudden that barely anyone could keep them bath. Aedan was walking through the streets of Kalaram at the time of the outbreak. At the screams, they ran to find some help or somewhere to hide. Eventually, they found Aedan's father, but his sister was nowhere to be found. Avoiding the dead as much as they could, they searched for days, barely surviving. They couldn't find his sister, anywhere. But things would only get worse from there.
A couple days later, they encountered a large horde of the dead. There was no way around them and more dead were closing in behind them. Things seemed impossible. The dead swarmed them. Before they could react, they dragged his mother off and began devouring her right in front of them. Aedan completely froze as he witnessed this horrifying scene. Everything went numb. But, before anything could be done, Aedan's father shoved him down a small alleyway and managed to completely block it off with some nearby crates. In Aedan's eyes, he seemed to move like lightning. Soon, the crates blocked Aedan's view from the rest of the street. All he could hear were the screams of his parents as they were devoured. He lost track of time passing as he just sat there, holding his head. But, somehow, the dead moved on afterwards. Perhaps they forgot about Aedan. How did he survive? That's the biggest question that haunts him.
Days seemed to go by, but the exact amount of time that went by was unknown to him. Perhaps it was only an hour. But eventually, the horde seemed to have completely moved on. The sounds of silent had filled the air. Finally, Aedan gathered up what little courage he could to move out there to check. There was nothing left of his parents. Only blood in the streets and what items the dead couldn't eat. There were a few things of bread left as well as his father's armour. He gathered everything he could, donning his father's armour, and moved on to find someplace to hide. He felt he could pose as a knight with his father's armour and maybe do some good if he could find other survivors. The knights were a sign of hope, afterall. Perhaps he could bring that hope to everyone else or maybe he was just delusional. But he couldn't stay out in the open. He had to find what food he could and a safe place. This eventually led him to what everyone knows as the Sundered Desolation.
