Basic Appearance: Scars riddle this man's body, mainly his face, and has a big burly beard with a bald head. Despite all these scars he tends to have a rather welcoming facial expression most of the time. His favorite colors tend to be purple and blue.
Personality: Overall he is a very kind and generous man who would help anyone in need, even at his own expense. This often gets him into trouble and he can be very over zealous in his attempts to help those in need.
History: Baelsin grew up in the land of Siranda. His mother and father died when he reached the age of 10, which left him and his four siblings to fend for themselves since they had no family to take care of them. His family was a very poor family to begin with and struggled even when his parents were alive. With no income, Baelsin's family resorted to common thievery in the market places and stores to get supplies for survival. They became quite adept at stealing, but as the eldest it was Baelsin's job to look after his brothers and sisters. Baelsin wasn't as skilled in the art of thievery as his siblings were though, and would often be a scout, lookout, or distraction while his siblings worked. He developed great conversation skills and most of the merchants he spoke to actually respected him when they spoke to him. Sometimes he even managed to persuade the merchants into giving his family food and supplies out of pity.
Everything was going well, until one day his youngest brother, Razul, got caught stealing. The local authorities were about to whip him and fine Razul for his actions, but Baelsin took the blame for the theft. As a result for Baelsin's caring for his little brother, Baelsin was whipped and tortured for an unreasonable amount of time by the authorities. Theft was a serious crime in the city of Kalaram. A local paladin by the name of Odrin Veseck saw through Baelsin's lies and knew that he was innocent. Odrin stopped the punishment and paid for the fine so Baelsin wouldn't go to jail as well. Odrin asked Baelsin why he took the blame for his little brother Razul. Baelsin replied, "My mother and father made me promise that I would protect my family from harm no matter what." Such a selfless action moved Odrin, and the noble paladin adopted Baelsin and all his siblings.
Things got much better for Baelsin and his family now that they had a provider and someone who cared deeply for them. Most of his siblings grew up to be various professions. Baelsin however grew up to be a paladin of Ilmater, like adoptive father Odrin. He spent many years in service to Ilmater and became adept at healing. Overall his new life was very fulfilling for he found purpose in his life, to ease the pain and suffering of those around him.
Once again, everything was going well in his life, until the zombies hit Siranda in full force. Baelsin and Odrin tried their best to help the diseased, but very little helped to cure the disease. People were dropping like flies and the paladins of Ilmater were devastated. Odrin eventually fell to the zombies in a noble attempt to save the city from the undead. Baelsin would have followed him but his little brother Razul said this before knocking him out, "Now it is my turn to save you big brother." Baelsin awoke some time later in the safe haven for the remaining survivors of the initial attack.
Razul was not as noble as his brother Baelsin, and worked for the local guild of thieves. Razul was never seen again, and Baelsin assumed Razul and the rest of his siblings were safe somewhere or dead. Baelsin had work to do though, he had to make sure the survivors remained alive and healthy. However, he would also search Siranda for any sign of his family.
