I'd just like to suggest that maybe during DM events we don't allow people to rest for healing/spell renewal UNLESS the dm tells us all it's nap time and passes out graham crackers. Too many people are running off during events to heal up and get new spells when it wouldn't make sense to do so.

I'm totally for this.
Also, I speak only from my experiences here, but damn-near all the events I've partaken in have had very, very minimal risk to the players - if they die during an event, odds are they'll be raised.
Frankly, I'm blown away by just how easy it is to raise people from the dead, it's convenient sure - but it really detracts from the RP I think; having characters bull rush undead etc, despite knowing they'll get pulled to pieces.
So, I guess mine isn't a rule per say, but a suggestion for DM events no less. At least in my own opinion here, I think deaths in DM events should be treated the same as Death to uncontrolled mobs.
Just cause a DM is on, controlling things, it's not a license to throw survival out the door.

Allowing people to rest during the events further breaks the already broken class balance. Casters (clerics come to mind immediately) have all the advantages over fighters when their spells are 'ayyyy lmao' recharged after a quick wank. An official rule to prevent blatant mechanic cheese during dm events wouldn't be a bad thing.

So, yeah. I'm completely in agreement with the idea of not allowing people to rest. In fact, I don't think I've yet encountered such in my own events, but I've been of that line of thought for a long time. People should not be permitted to rest during the course of an event, unless otherwise allowed by the DM running the event. In fact, that alone adds more to the survivability. People need to watch what they use and be more conservative in their use of stuff like magic or any other "per day" use stuff. Think about what you're using and if there's a better situation. Stuff like that.
As for death kinda being thrown out the window when it comes to DM events, I know some of that can be due to something unforseen, even to the DM. Perhaps a monster that was made was too powerful and nearly wiped everyone out. Maybe something that was keeping something out of reach for a good reason was suddenly broken or opened. Stuff like that. However, I definitely agree that events, even though a DM is overseeing it, should be treated as any other situation. "NAH. HE JUST LOOKS BIG! WE'LL SHOW HIM!" is probably a bad idea. If something looks like it's meant to be a boss-type creature, it probably is. And if you try to take it, head on, by yourself? Be prepared to die horribly. The name of the game is "Survival", and just because you might be powerful and can fight the undead with ease, doesn't mean that you should suddenly forget about survival just because a DM is there who can probably raise you.

Resting during events that aren't purposely made long enough to where resting seems rational always seemed really screwy, i'd agree that there should be no resting in an event unless the DM states it is ok to do so.
