Class Idea:
Promote investment into pure classes: (8 of one class)
Right now we all know the benefit of multiclassing is getting multiple class abilities - but what is never very rewarding is when someone chooses not to do that (usually, obviously there are exceptions like wiz/sorc/cler).
My suggestion is to buff certain slightly underwhelming classes like ranger, monk, and fighter with pure class bonuses.
Ranger Bonuses:
Move pet acquisition to level 3 instead of 6, giving a pure ranger 5 levels of pet scaling instead of 2. (druids still get 8)
Allow rangers to pick between melee or ranged combat styles. Give feats at levels 4 and 8 promoting full 8 ranger builds:
Ranged:
Level 4: Point Blank Shot
Level 8: Rapid Shot
Melee:
Level 4: Weapon Focus
Level 8: Improved Critical
Monk Bonuses:
Change monk bonus AC to +1 at level 4, and +2 at level 8.
Fighter Bonuses:
Allow fighters to gain more martial mastery than others might have:
At level 4 give fighters Weapon Specialization for free.
At level 6 give fighters the ability to gain a second wind during combat. Give them Wholeness of Body like a monk. Heal 2x class level.
At level 8 give fighters Superior Weapon Focus (+1 AB from level 5 weaponmaster).
Rewards Ideas:
Non-item rewards.
Allow players to gain special non-item rewards from otherworldly powers, or just from powerful individuals in the game. Maybe a harper gives you a tattoo that grants you +2 fort vs. zombie disease. Maybe a priest of mystra sends you on a quest and grants you +2 spellcraft permanently with a blessing?
Area Idea:
On a previous server I played on, the outer regions ("The Mists") were dangerous and unmapped. It was impossible to keep your way when you went out there, mostly because when you went into the mists the transitions were scripted to randomly teleport you to another part of the mists...and there were only so many ways out. You could spend quite some time wandering around these dangerous areas with no easy way out. It'd be nice to see a place like this on the server with high risk...but high rewards.
