((I am going to be starting a project here based on a lot of solo RP I have done in the mornings during the dead hours of the server. Feel free to join in, but know that I am starting from the beginning so it will start in the past, I will notify when we draw to more present times. Let's get started then! Oh and some music for the scene!))
The winter months had settled in. Snow lazily drifted onto the dead filled city of Kalaram, blanketing it in a layer of white. Dark shadows enveloped the city, the evening hour growing ever later. Among the walking dead there was a lone redheaded halfling, stumbling through one of the many pathways that webbed through all the buildings. Rina's breath came out of her mouth in wispy clouds of frozen vapor that drifted along the biting breeze before disappearing. She was far away from the house, even if she could not leave the city itself. A burning sensation was building inside of her, something she only experienced twice in her life. Once was in the house when her magic started to act up and the other was when she killed her father. She tried to put as much distance between herself and those in the safehouse. The soft crunch of the snow beneath her boots was all the noise she made, minus the soft panting of breathing. Ahead of her a group of four shambling horrors rounded the corner. They spotted the small redhead and started to stumble towards her in a jerky fashion. Flesh hung from their bodies and for a few the stark white of bone was visible. Hungry moans escaped their tattered windpipes as their feet dragged long divots in the powdery snow. Finally, some luck was shining her way.
The magic within her small body continued to boil inside of her, pushing to be released out into the world. Thoughts of burning the zombies and everything around it filled her mind and what scared her the most was how she almost wanted that herself. Rina held out her hand and flames gushed out in a torrent of inferno, igniting the advancing dead and the building next to them. Heat and the smell of charred flesh hit her nose, strong enough to make her gag. But it was too late to rethink her plan as the fire wasn't going to stop. She couldn't stop it. Flesh was turned black and muscle was eaten away until ash and husks remained of the dead. One managed to stay active, sliding along its belly, using its ruined arms to drag its scorched body forward towards the halfling. It ignored its melted body as it gnashed rotten teeth and gurgled out a spine shivering moan. The halfling tore her gaze from the sight, the flames causing a dance of light and shadow as it spread throughout the building. Rina turned away from the fire and booked it from the area, short legs pumping as fast she she could move them. She dared not go back home to the others. They couldn't see her like this. They didn't deserve to have a monster living under the same roof as them.
It was growing late however and the spooky hour was drawing closer. Another glimpse of lady luck though as Rina found a small abandoned residence that was clear of both the dead and the living. She set up her handy camping bedroll in the corner of the broken home. Bits of rafter and support beams were hanging down and splintered into pieces. It was not the safest place and it was not the prettiest. It was perfect however for her. She sat in the corner, alone in her thoughts. The hours dragged on for what seemed like eternities. The cold winter wind from outside didn't bother the little redhead. Her inner flames kept the cold from biting her too harshly, though she did shiver a little as the temperature dropped. She heard the telltale shrieks of the dead as the midnight hour tolled. She even heard the frenzied pattering of the running zombies outside the house. She held her breath when this happened, only exhaling when things grew quiet again. Another hour of silence passed, the halfling curled in a fetal position in her little corner of the world. Then she felt it. The burning within her.
Tears trickled down her cheeks and sizzled when they dripped to the floor. Looking down and wiping her cheek, she noticed that her tears looked more like molten rock. Bright and full of yellow and red, not to mention the heat coming off the liquid. She screamed as she pressed her back into the wall. It started with an lone ember, a smoldering of the floorboard next to her. Rina put her hands on the sides of her head and continued to scream in panic as fire flew out from her body and swirled around her small form, engulfing whatever it could touch. It spread from there, up into the already unstable rafters. The building groaned as sudden and loud snaps were heard as supports gave way. The building started to crumble around the small halfling. She was too afraid to move from her corner. The flames around Rina however were burning so intensely that the lumber and building that did fall at her was incinerated. It was an uncontrollable mess. She couldn't stop it from happening. Dread filled the pit of her stomach as she screamed again. The smoke and light was visible to any in the city of Kalaram, during that cold winter night.
