Jach is a slight built young man, still showing some boyish features. He wears an overly large set of brown robes and is never seen without his books.
Jach was raised in a small hut on the edge of the Kryptgarden Forest. He didn't know his parents, and the closest thing to a parental figure he had was the ancient charms maker and hedgemage, Althius. Jach was raised from a young age in the path of a wizard, having shown aptitude to letters and numbers at the age of 4. By 6 he had begun scribing scrolls for his master's use, and recreating his master's books onto newer pages.
Althius taught Jach to begin casting spells when in his teens, but in the years following He realized that Jach had mastered the simple spells that were the extent of Althius' abilities. It was with reluctance that Jach was sent away, books over his shoulder, cloak on his back and a magical rod in his belt. Althius sent him with a letter of recommendation to the city of Luskan where he was to be admitted into the tower as an apprentice.
With a small pouch of gold in pocket, he took a boat from Waterdeep to Luskan, but along the way a storm struck and Jach fell overboard, he blacked out and when he awoke he was on a strange and dark island covered in undead....
