Katalina is a pretty young girl, with flaming red hair, often tied back into a long, practical ponytail. Her eyes are violet, and she stands an inch or so past five feet tall. She wears simple clothing, and can often be seen with a wand or scroll case hanging from her belt, as well as an enchanted pouch for holding her gear, without the need for a cumbersome backpack.
Katalina is from a small timber village just off the Sword Coast. Her parents made provisions for passing adventurers. Anything from weapons, to armours, and sold cured foods too, all in a little family owned shop. Katalina, showed promise with her mind from a young age. She was not as naturally hands on as her folks, though she did her part and pulled her weight and learned the family trade. It was when she was six years old that a passing Wizard stopped to buy rope, and some food, that her life changed. It was but a passing comment by the man, that she had the potential to make a good Wizard one day, that set her off. Once she'd heard this, her natural curiosity was piqued. She used her pocket money to buy cantrips and minor magical artifacts, and studied them fanatically. Her parents could not afford to send her off to an academy, so she opted to study anything and everything she could.
She worked extra shifts at the saw mill and the forge in the shop to afford these things... but when she reached eighteen, she knew that it would never be enough. She packed a bag and bid a tearful farewell to her parents. SHe knew she had to explore the world to find the power and understanding she hungered for.
It was not long after this though, that a boat she'd boarded headed for Cormyr was marooned on the island, with Kat being the only survivor.
