The masterwork results sound really fishy. I'll check on the crafting scripts when I get home but last I remember, odds of success should scale with ranks in the appropriate craft skill along with your mastery level. And yeah, we're aware of the subrace XP issue with crafting. I have a fix that cleans up the whole thing significantly but it requires some pretty thorough testing that I have not had the time for by myself. Ideally I would like to launch a permanent "beta" server where people could sign on and test requested features. Maybe in exchange for a little in-game perk?

If I remember correctly, the ability to make masterwork items is actually random. The skill is more for determining success or failure with crafting, as well as how many crafting points you receive from salvaging items at the table. I could be wrong, but that's always how I understood it.

The crafting levels just make it so you fail less attempts.
